As Assistant Area Manager, Suresh Pillai’s job is to make sure everything runs like clockwork regarding the distribution of Tawseel publications in Deira 2, which includes Nad Al Hammar, Mirdiff, Mizhar, Khawaneej, Al Aweer, Hatta, Rashidiya, Al Qusais and Al Twar.
Raised in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh in India, Suresh was 16 when his family decided to relocate back to their native Kerala. It was there he studied Mathematics at Kerala’s Mahatma Gandhi University, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in 1996.
After leaving university, Suresh’s first job was as a medical representative and from there he moved into the transportation industry as a supervisor. But in 1999 the urge to explore new horizons had his packing his bags for Dubai and taking up a sales job with Booksplus. Within a year he was promoted to store manager.
In 2005, after five years with Booksplus, Suresh left to join Tawseel as merchandising supervisor. Two years later, Suresh was promoted to the post of Assistant Area Manager.
Dubai is now home says Suresh and he doesn’t see himself returning to India in the near future. “This is a good place to be,” he says, “it has plenty of opportunities and although it is getting more expensive by the day, it is still a wonderful place.”
He loves to play cricket and football, and on a weekend you will find him in the park spending quality time with his wife and three-year-old daughter.
